How to Play Blackjack

The term blackjack comes from a game that pays extra to players who held a combination of Jack and Ace of Spades. The color of the suit spade is black combined with the Jack of Spade, thus the term blackjack came about.

The cards are dealt and each player, starting from the left, gets a pair of cards face-up. If a player is not satisfied, he deals another card. When everyone is satisfied with their hand, they will open the hands. The dealer now collects the bets of the losers and distributes the winnings of the winners.

The values of cards differ in the deck. All of the cards of the deck are in play except for the jokers. The Kings, Queens, and Jacks of any suit have the same value as ten. All other cards have the same value as their face value except for Aces. An Ace can be valued as either on or eleven.

A hand, involving an ace and another card, is called either a soft hand or a hard hand. A soft hand is a blackjack hand, consisting of a card of any value, and an Ace of any suit, which can be counted as one or eleven. On the other hand, a hard hand is consists of a card of any value and an Ace regardless of any suit, which can only be counted as one without exceeding the value of twenty-one. Meanwhile, a hand that goes over the value of twenty-one, is called a busted hand.
